Pets and mounts

This page gathers the shard-specific rules for storing pets, finding rare mounts, and releasing controlled creatures. Exact event locations remain part of exploration.

Shrink Potion

Tamed pets controlled by the character can be stored with a Shrink Potion. The potion must be in the backpack: use it and select the pet. The same animal, including its appearance, is preserved as a statuette and occupies no follower slots while stored.

A pet cannot be shrunk:

  • when dead, summoned, or owned by another character;
  • during Arena, combat, recent aggression, or a pet transfer;
  • while the character is dead or has a trade window open.

To restore it, keep the statuette in the backpack and double-click it. The character must be alive, outside the Arena, and free from combat, recent aggression, or trade, with enough follower slots and physical space at the location. The pet returns under control with the follow order.

Rare mounts

Group Possibilities Minimum Animal Taming Behavior
Rare Britannia Llama, Mustang, or Ostard, with body and color variations 90.0 Keeps one wild mount active in an accessible area of pre-T2A Felucca wilderness. Once tamed or killed, it gives way to a new cycle.
Fixed events Rare Rideable Llama 60.0 Appears through its own event and may be announced by Town Criers.
Fixed events Rare Desert, Forest, Frenzied, or Zostrich Ostard 70.0 Each family has its own event. A tamed mount frees its slot for the next cycle.
Odran Ruby Mustang 95.1 Released after Odran is defeated and protected from wild creatures for 60 seconds.

Rare Britannia mounts use colors from the ordinary dye range. Frenzied, Zostrich, and Forest Ostard statuettes preserve the animal's original color.

For clues without revealing coordinates, see Rare spawns and Whispers of Britannia.

General rules

  • Controlled pets and player summons cannot attack or damage other players but remain available in PvM.
  • Tamed, formerly tamed, and summoned creatures grant no Gold, XP, death loot, or PvM progress.
  • This ruleset does not use pet bonding.

Releasing a pet

The game requests confirmation before releasing a pet. Summons and naturally aggressive pets disappear permanently; aggressive pets take all carried items with them. Passive or reactive pets remain in the world normally after losing their bond to the former owner.
