Bonsais

Chopping trees in Felucca, lumberjacks find bonsai saplings (on average, 1 per 3,000 logs; at most 1 per account every 24 hours). The sapling lands in your backpack with its discovery message.

How to plant

Lock the sapling down in your house and double-click it, within 2 tiles, as owner or co-owner: in 24 hours it becomes a surprise bonsai. The sapling must stay locked down to finish growing.

Fertilizer

Forest creatures — Reapers, Corpsers, Boglings, Bog Things, Wisps, Shadow Wisps, Pixies, dryads, satyrs, treefellows, and centaurs — drop bonsai fertilizer. Use the fertilizer from your backpack on the sapling before planting: a fertilized sapling guarantees at least an Uncommon bonsai, and only fertilized saplings grow Legendary (5% chance). Since 0.52.0 fertilizer drops more often, and even more in 0.53.0.

Rarities

There are 16 models across five rarities, with tooltip color and the cultivator's name:
